Revalidation is the process by which the General Medical Council will confirm the continuation of a doctors' licences to practice in the UK. Its purpose is to assure patients and the public, employers and other healthcare professionals that licensed doctors are up to date and fit to practise. The RST works in partnership with the Department of Health, GMC and designated bodies to deliver an effective system of revalidation for doctors in England.

The RST has published Information Management for Revalidation in England which describes the information management and information governance processes that will be required to ensure revalidation is effective.

It is targeted at responsible officers and those who will be responsible for designing information systems to support revalidation. It may also be of interest to doctors, appraisers, Caldicott guardians and managers.

The Responsible Officer Dashboard allows responsible officers and their staff to track the doctors they are responsible for and see at a glance how they are progressing towards revalidation and where any concerns may lie.

It is a stand-alone tool developed by the RST. For more information, and to download the tool, please click here.
